Coronavirus-19 G-net operations update

Yesterday our Governor, Brad Little, issued an order to self-isolate due to the ongoing Coronavirus-19 pandemic.

All non-essential businesses must close and their employees must stay at home for the next 21 days. Additionally, any work that can be performed remotely is highly encouraged.

We will remain open as we are considered an essential business for the functioning of telecommunications. We will be working to maintain isolation of 6ft from others, and we have increased sanitation practices such as frequent hand washing. In the event you are sick, we ask that you notify us before an appointment so we can take proper precautions and limit our exposure.

Many people have already been moving to a remote setup for their schooling and work.

Here at G-Net, we have worked to build a robust and stable network capable of maintaining the increased demand from these services.  We will still be available for questions, support and installation of new service.

We know that moving to a remote work situation is stressful. We want to provide any help you might need in making that process smoother. Many people have increased their usage of the internet with the kids at home, internet based healthcare, and remote work. If you have had any trouble it is likely that you need an increase of bandwidth to meet your increased demand. If so, we can usually do that with a simple phone call and 10 minutes of your time.

If you need increased upload capacity let us know as we will be doing case by case increases with no liability to you.

We know these are trying times and we want to help in this process as much as possible.

Internet Capacity Update Monday Dec 31

Thank you very much for your patience during these unfortunate internet issues.

We have been in contact with our provider today about getting the link from Mason Butte to Hells Gulch restored. Unfortunately we are being told that they have been unable to find a tower crew to climb the Mason tower and run the new cable needed to reconfigure their radio. We have been told that they have called multiple contract tower climbers in the area, but have not gotten a response.

The current plan is to have a tower crew at Mason Butte this Wednesday to restore full service.

Despite our limited bandwidth capacity during this event, many customers we have been in contact with have explained that while they have noticed the slowness, they have still been able to stream at reduced quality.

This is thanks to recent upgrades we have made in the network to improve efficiency and throughput.

We look forward to full restoration of capacity Wednesday.

We would also like to thank you all for your graciousness and patience through this stressful event.

Thank you so much,

The Gazette Record Internet Team

Internet Issues update

Since Friday evening 12/21/2018 we have been running our network on minimal bandwidth due to our provider’s failed link on Mason Butte.

As such, you may have noticed some internet slowness. We have multiple tools at our disposal to reduce the effect of this loss and they so far seem to be helping significantly.

Also we have been able to get more bandwidth this morning from our other provider that should ease the slowness even more.

As for the failed link, the provider has told us that they have a new one on order and that it should be arriving sometime tomorrow. As soon as that happens we should have a more definite timeline on full internet service restoration.

In the meantime we would like to thank our customers for their patience through this ordeal.

If you have any questions you can call us at the Gazette at 208-245-4538 or you can call our after hours number at 208-582-6672

Thank you,

Upgrade complete at the Golf Course

Last week we worked to improve our Golf Course site.
By adding a battery backup system that should last for hours we can weather the storms we so often get here in the fall.

In addition we replaced the aging Access Point to our new LTE system. This will help increase our capacity and reliability on Capitol hill as well as the other areas that side of town. We have also increased our coverage behind St. Maries due to this upgrade.

We are pleased to continue our tradition of serving the best internet possible to our beautiful river valley.
